Growth through Global Trade Award
Has your small business taken big steps to grow global?
Nominations for the Growth through Global Trade award have closed.
Check back in January to see the winner and hear their exporting story.
The award is designed for U.S. small- and medium-sized businesses with fewer than 500 employees that are already exporting to international markets. Anyone can nominate a deserving business for the Growth through Global Trade award. Nominations will be accepted beginning on August 24, 2010, and will include a series of brief questions about the business, as well as a 200-word essay explaining how the business is excelling in the global marketplace. The winner will be announced in January 2011.
The winning company will be the nominee that best exemplifies a business that is excelling in exporting as determined by the following criteria:
- Growth of international sales and/or business operations
- An entrepreneurial spirit and innovative pursuit of international growth opportunities

The potential for global growth is as vast as the world itself. UPS’s 2010 Business Monitor United States survey found that small-business exporters are positive about their companies’ futures. Exporting to new geographic markets offers American small- and medium-sized businesses the opportunity to create new revenue streams, secure more customers and, ultimately, better compete in today’s ever-changing global marketplace.
With the recently announced National Export Initiative – which has a goal of doubling U.S. exports in five years – this award is a prime opportunity to showcase a U.S. small- or mid-sized company that is effectively exporting to new markets, and help other businesses take similar steps to grow beyond U.S. borders.
UPS is launching the Growth through Global Trade award as a way to laud one U.S. business that is already successfully exporting to international markets – and to show others just how impactful international trade can be on a company’s bottom line.
