Growth through Global Trade Award
UPS Names SteelMaster Buildings First Winner of Global Trade Award
Virginia Firm Is Structured for Success Through Exporting
UPS has named SteelMaster Buildings the first winner of its Growth through Global Trade award. The award is designed to identify one U.S.-based small- to mid-sized business that is already successfully exporting to international markets – showing just how much of an impact international trade can have on a company’s bottom line.
Based in Virginia Beach, Va., SteelMaster Buildings manufactures, designs and supplies pre-fabricated arched steel structures. The company began exporting in 2006, and international orders now constitute 15 percent of the company’s revenue.
Currently, SteelMaster exports to 40 countries spanning the Caribbean, Central and South America, Africa, Europe and Asia and also has distributor relationships in 50 international markets. In the coming years, the company plans to increase exports to Latin American and African countries as well as other emerging markets that need steel structures in the wake of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods or hurricanes.
To honor SteelMaster’s accomplishments, World Trade 100 published a feature in its January 2011 issue.
